BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao Wednesday called for world peace, stability and prosperity in a New Year address broadcast to domestic and overseas audience via state TV and radio stations.

"We sincerely hope all the countries will support and help each other, and work together to promote peace, stability and prosperity of the world and bring to the people of all nations a peaceful and happy life," Hu said.

Hu's address, entitled "Jointly Promote World Peace, Stability and Prosperity", was broadcast by China Radio International, China National Radio and China Central Television.
